Dojo EPOS compatibility: what to verify before connecting

“Works with Dojo” is only the start of an integration discussion. The important question is whether your exact till setup supports the payment functions your staff need.

Commercial disclosure: Time Consulting is an independent Dojo introducer and consultant, not Dojo and not a whole-market broker. We may receive an introducer fee if you take a product through us. Our commercial relationship should be considered when reading this guide.

In brief

Confirm the EPOS product, software version, terminal and payment mode with both responsible suppliers. Time Consulting does not supply or work with Lightspeed, EPOS Now, SumUp EPOS or Square EPOS. That business boundary is not a claim that each product is technically incompatible with Dojo.

Separate three different questions

  • Do we supply it? Whether Time Consulting offers or works with a particular EPOS supplier.
  • Can it integrate? Whether that supplier supports a Dojo connection for your exact product and version.
  • Does it meet your needs? Whether the supported connection handles your required workflow reliably in your environment.

A logo on a provider’s website does not answer all three. We do not claim partnerships with Lightspeed, EPOS Now, SumUp EPOS or Square EPOS, and we will not present those products as our own services. If you already use one, request written compatibility confirmation from that supplier and Dojo; do not infer it from our inclusion of the name here.

Check the payment mode, not just the brand

Dojo’s integrated-payments page describes Pay at Counter and Pay at Table, with setup involving the EPOS provider. The features you receive depend on the supported integration; a counter-payment connection does not by itself prove that every table-service feature is available.

RequirementAsk the supplier to confirm
Exact setupProduct edition, version, licence, operating system, terminal model and location.
Payment flowSending an amount, receiving payment status and closing the correct sale.
HospitalityTable retrieval, splitting bills, tips, partial payment and receipt printing where needed.
ExceptionsRefunds, cancellations, lost connection and avoiding duplicate payment requests.
OwnershipWho enables the integration, any fee, who supports faults and who approves updates.

Use a small acceptance test

  1. Agree the scope.

Write down the functions that must work before launch. Obtain approval for test methods and any live test transactions.

  2. Check the ordinary sale and exceptions.

Verify amount, result, receipt and reconciliation. Test a supported cancellation or refund without exposing real customer data.

  3. Agree the fallback.

Confirm how staff recognise an uncertain payment and who authorises a retry. If standalone operation is available, document how to reconcile it without duplicating a sale.

Keep website compatibility separate

EPOS integration and online checkout are different technical projects. The Dojo developer documentation separates in-person and online integration routes. Check website-platform support independently and do not assume an EPOS connection creates an online payment gateway.

Our restaurant website guide covers the guest journey. For an existing fault use safe connectivity checks; if changing provider, see the switching checklist. We can help frame EPOS requirements, but supplier confirmation remains necessary.

Sources and method

We checked the public primary sources below and separated published product information from our practical planning suggestions. This is desk research, not a hands-on product test or a whole-market recommendation. Features, eligibility and terms can change; confirm your own written offer before committing.

We may receive an introducer fee. Provider approval, pricing and contractual decisions remain with the relevant provider. Ask about a source, correction or our commercial relationship.
