How Dojo settlement works
Dojo totals up each day's takings at the end of its daily banking window and then transfers them to you. There are two speeds, and it's worth knowing which one you're on:
- Next Business Day Transfer (the default) — funds are released from 2pm on the next business day and typically arrive in your account within a couple of hours, subject to banking hours. Because it's business days only, Friday, Saturday and Sunday takings all settle on Monday.
- Faster Next Day Transfer (paid upgrade) — funds are released from 6am the following day, every day, including weekends and bank holidays. Saturday's takings land Sunday morning; Sunday's land Monday morning.
For hospitality and retail — businesses that do much of their trade at the weekend — the upgrade can make a real cashflow difference, because you're not waiting until Monday afternoon for Friday's money. Whether it's worth the fee depends on your weekend volume, which is exactly the kind of sum we run for clients.
Weekends and bank holidays
This is the part most guides get wrong. On the default plan, Dojo settles on business days only — so takings from a Saturday, a Sunday or a bank holiday are paid on the next business day, not the next morning. Weekend and bank-holiday payouts are a feature of the Faster Next Day Transfer upgrade, which releases funds from 6am seven days a week.
One more detail if you use Dojo Business Funding: your agreed repayment percentage is deducted from each day's takings before the transfer is sent, so the amount that lands is your takings minus that day's repayment.
If your payout hasn't arrived
If a settlement looks late, check these in order before assuming a problem:
- Your bank's processing window
Faster Payments can take a little time to show, especially first thing. The money may be in transit rather than missing.
- Is it a business day?
On the default plan, weekend and bank-holiday takings settle on the next business day, released from 2pm. If it's Saturday and you're not on the Faster upgrade, the money isn't late — it's due Monday.
- A risk or verification hold
Occasionally a payout is paused for a routine check — for example after an unusually large transaction. This is normal and resolves once verified.
- Your dashboard
Your Dojo account will show the status of each payout, which usually tells you whether it's been sent or is pending.
If it's genuinely stuck, that's exactly the kind of thing an account manager sorts quickly — and having an independent consultant in your corner means you've got someone to chase it for you.
FAQs
Does Dojo pay out the next day?
Yes. By default Dojo settles on the next business day, releasing funds from 2pm so they typically reach your bank within a couple of hours. A paid Faster Next Day Transfer upgrade releases funds from 6am the next day instead.
Does Dojo pay out on weekends?
Only on the paid Faster Next Day Transfer upgrade, which releases funds from 6am every day including weekends and bank holidays. On the default plan, Dojo settles on business days only, so weekend takings are paid on Monday.
Why hasn't my Dojo payout arrived?
Usually it's the plan you're on (default settlement is business days only, released from 2pm), your bank's processing window, or a routine verification hold after an unusual transaction. Your Dojo app shows each transfer as pending or complete.
